For the month of August, we are welcoming 20-year old international author Dhruv Tripathi, who is bringing to the United States all the way from India his second psychological science-fiction thriller, The Silent Pulse.
The Writer
Paige: Where are you from?
Dhruv: I’m from Lucknow, India.
Paige: How long have you been writing?
Dhruv: I’ve been writing for 4 years!
Paige: What does writing mean to you personally?
Dhruv: I’ve grown up watching “Harry Potter”! And it made me think of what a single person’s mind can do! How it can make a world of its own! A world which people would give up everything to be a part of! And I always thought of making a world of my own someday… that’s the reason why writing is something I deeply love!
Paige: Were there any authors or books that shaped you early on?
Dhruv: Oh wow… okay. J. K. Rowling, Freida McFadden, and Nidhi Upadhyay.
Paige: What does a perfect writing day look like for you?
Dhruv: I mostly enjoy writing when I’m all alone in my room! A coffee on my table with some background sounds to keep me invested!
The Work
Paige: Tell us about your latest/upcoming release.
Dhruv: My latest novel is “THE SILENT PULSE”! It’s a deep-sea thriller/horror! It explores what the depths of the ocean hides from us! Some things are forgotten for a reason and it should stay that way! Took me 2 years to write this story and I am really excited for the world to dive into my imagination!
Paige: What inspired this particular story?
Dhruv: I was once paddling on a boat at night! Alone. And I was just looking at the reflection of the moon in the waves of the ocean! How the moonlight can be so beautiful and scary at the same time! That’s when the whole idea of “The Silent Pulse” came into life!
Paige: What do you hope readers take away from this book?
Dhruv: I hope that readers enjoy the atmosphere and the theme I’ve set with my writing.
Paige: What sentence from your own writing are you most proud of?
Dhruv: “It was built to contain something. And now, it’s awake!” and “Some things are buried for a reason and some things should never be found!”
Paige: What part of the writing/publishing process has been most rewarding?
Dhruv: Meeting a lot of people and making a lot of memories along the journey! Also nothing beats the feeling of holding your book for the first time!

Paige: What genres or themes draw you in most?
Dhruv: I’m into thriller and horror! In terms of the reading aspect… I really enjoy murder mystery as well!
Paige: Is there a dream project you hope to write someday?
Dhruv: Wow! I wish to complete the “Silent” series! Same genre,
different theme/atmosphere!
Paige: What literary world would you love to visit?
Dhruv: All of them!
Paige: What advice would you give aspiring writers?
Dhruv: Life is so confusing and yet so simple! You will eventually get everything you work and dream of… but surprisingly not in the way you thought! Numerous ups and downs, but at the end it will all be worth it!
Paige: What can readers look forward to from you next?
Dhruv: Already working on the last part of the “Silent” series! Totally different atmosphere!
Paige: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your experience as a writer?
Dhruv: It’s beautiful! In the end of our lifetime… we’ll go empty-handed! But we’ll be leaving behind a part of ourselves, a world we created, characters we wrote. Somewhere on this planet, in a small library, in the corner of the bookshelf, a book that we’ve written will always be waiting for another reader to dive into our worlds!
Outside of being an author, Dhruv Tripathi has shared that he is a student pilot, is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, and plays football (soccer) for a local team in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.
