Reading and writing have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I always imagined myself becoming an author someday, but over time I realized that what fascinated me most was not only storytelling itself, but the structure, intention, and literary craftsmanship behind it. I fell in love with studying literature just as much as reading it.

I was born in Guam and moved to the United States as a child. Throughout every season of life, reading, writing, and studying somehow continued to find me, even during times when books were not always accessible. Whether through novels, journaling, or studying Scripture and taking notes in the margins of my Bible, language and reflection remained constant sources of comfort and growth.

After “retiring” at 28 to focus on my health, I found myself rediscovering reading in a new way. Books began meeting me differently than they had before, reminding me how the same story can offer entirely different meanings depending on where we are in life. That realization deepened my love for critical thinking, reflection, and literary discussion, and eventually inspired me to create The Modern Folio.

Today, this space allows me to share my thoughts, observations, and appreciation for literature while encouraging others to engage more deeply with the stories they love. Beyond blogging, I am also a wife, mother, woman of faith, and someone who finds joy in family, cooking, and quiet moments with a good book.
